Biography
Raymond P. Atwood, Jr. is a native of Ossining, New York and a graduate of the University of Nebraska and the University of Nebraska College of Law. Mr. Atwood received additional legal education at the University of California, Center for Trial and Appellate Advocacy, San Francisco; the Medi-Legal Institute, Orthopedics and Disability, Chicago, IL; and, the National College of Advanced Trial Advocacy, Harvard Law School.
Mr. Atwood has 44 years of trial practice experience, principally in workers’ compensation and personal injury law, focused on litigation of death and catastrophic loss cases. Over his career, Mr. Atwood has handled thousands of successful legal cases and served as lead counsel in hundreds of trials and numerous appeals to the Nebraska Court of Appeals and Nebraska Supreme Court. Mr. Atwood is also a long term “educator” having served part-time roles as a college paralegal instructor, adjunct client counseling judge at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln-College of Law, and as a frequent moderator and guest presenter in continuing legal education programs. Mr. Atwood is also a Nebraska certified mediator.
Mr. Atwood is listed as a “top 100” trial lawyer by National Trial Lawyers Organization. Martindale-Hubbell, a “lawyer rating” service established in 1868 awards Mr. Atwood an “AV Preeminent” rating. “AV” is the highest rank awarded by Martindale-Hubbell and is held by only 10 percent of all lawyers in the United States. Mr. Atwood is also a biographee in Marquis “Who’s Who in American Law,” “Who’s Who in America,” and “Who’s Who in the World.” Mr. Atwood is the founder of Atwood Law, P.C., L.L.O. in Lincoln, Nebraska.
