Tips to Remember After an Auto Collision That is the Fault of Another

1. Take pictures of the collision scene and damages to both vehicles. Most smartphone cameras are suitable. If your injuries and medical attention take priority and you are unable to take pictures at the scene, have someone you trust take pictures of the damage to the vehicles, even if later at a tow yard, before the evidence is destroyed.

2. Continue to have pictures taken from time to time of your injuries, the cast, the bruising, the assistive devices. This evidence cannot be recreated later. A picture really is worth a thousand words.

3. Be hesitant to give a statement to any insurance adjuster without consulting a lawyer first – especially if there is a chance someone will claim you are partially responsible for the collision and especially if you are still on impactful medications.

4. Stale evidence is no evidence. If your injuries are catastrophic, chances are increased that you will benefit from having an accident reconstructionist and an investigation by a lawyer to talk to witnesses first. This is what the insurance company will be doing in an effort to minimize your recovery.
