A woman reportedly suffered injuries on account of an August 25 accident in Lincoln. According to authorities, the 9 p.m. incident took place at the intersection of Interstate 80 and Northwest 48th.
That is where a southbound Dodge Stratus driven by the woman collided with a westbound Dodge Charger, authorities stated. Reportedly, the Charger struck the driver’s door of the woman’s vehicle. As a result of the collision, the woman was unable to exit her vehicle.
Authorities reported that emergency crews extricated the woman from the car. Once free, she was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that officials described as minor. According to the Nebraska State Patrol, the accident remains under investigation. It was not immediately clear whether troopers planned to file charges or issue any citations in relation to the crash.
If further investigation into this case were to yield evidence indicating that a driver’s negligent or reckless actions caused of the accident, there is a possibility that the at-fault driver may be held accountable for the incident not just criminally but also in civil court. For, the accident resulted in an injury, and people who suffer injuries in accidents caused by reckless or negligent driving may pursue a personal injury claim against the at-fault party.
