An 82-year-old woman was killed in a car accident in Lincoln recently. There were practically no details released about the crash, but what is known is that the woman died and that another vehicle was involved. The crash also happened around 5 p.m. and the police are investigating the incident. We don’t know if other people were hurt in the wreck, nor do we know how many people were in the vehicles involved. For now, the investigation process must run its course.
In the meantime, speculation will run wild about this crash. There are myriad ways this wreck could have occurred. For example, could it have been the 82-year-old’s fault? Older drivers are an at-risk demographic for car accidents, and it is possible that she failed to obey a street sign or traffic signal.
But maybe she was the victim of this crash, and the other car was negligent or responsible in some way. The other car could have been carrying a distracted driver, one that was texting away as he or she sat behind the wheel. Or it could have been driver by a reckless teen driver. Teenagers are another at-risk group for car accidents. Given their inexperience and often-cavalier way of approaching life, they get into a lot of car accidents.
If negligence was involved in this crash, it will come out in the investigation. The victims of the wreck could then pursue civil legal action in the form of a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit. Those suits could earn them the compensation they need to get through this difficult time.
